Birth Year Realignment Changes (USSF/WYS)

As many of you know, beginning fall 2016, we restructured the age requirements for league play in conjunction with the changes mandated by the U.S. Soccer Federation and US Youth Soccer. This changed the age chart from the current school year (Aug1-July 31st) to a calendar year (Jan 1 - Dec 31). Below is the statement released by Washington Youth Soccer.

Please keep in mind that these changes are nation-wide, not just for Washington state.

What does this mean if your school year team wants to stay together?

Teams will be entered into the correct age bracket based on the oldest player on a team's roster. Teams will not be allowed to have players participate that are too old for the bracket in which they are playing. Players may "play-up," although teams/coaches should anticipate that other teams may have rosters with older and larger players than teams formed with the old school year system. Club administrators will work with coaches to place teams in the appropriate age groups and competitive division.
