Air Quality

In our region, the most likely source of reduced air quality is wildfire smoke, with wildfires typically occurring in warmer drier months of summer.  To help ensure player safety, Highline Soccer Club is providing guidance to club members when to continue with practices and games.

When the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaches 150, The Club recommends cancelling outdoor activities and we recommend the PSCAA - Current Air Quality Map for source data.

The Club recognizes that individual players, families, and volunteers may have lower tolerances for airborne particulates than others and every club member should make a decision based on the well-being of their individual child and themselves.  An image from Air Now is provided below for guidance.

Forecasting AQI is challenging as air quality is localized and highly variable.  When cancelling activities, please inform relevant parties as soon as possible, ideally 1.5 hours before the event.

Coaches:  If the event is a game, please inform your opposing coach as early as possible.

Coach contact info is available via the Washington Youth Soccer (WYS) Schedule page when you click on their name for your match.  It will appear in a pop-up box.  Links to the current schedules are available via Team Central.

Recommended Health Check

All players and coaches are encouraged to do Health Checks prior to training and games.

The manual process is for the coach or team manager to ask each player the following questions. A Yes response to any question means the player should not participate.  We suggest parents self test their players before any participation...........

  1. Have you experienced a fever of 100.4 degrees F or greater in the past 14 days? Y/N
  2. Have you received a positive result from a COVID-19 test within the past 14 days? Y/N
  3. In the past 14 days, have you been in contact with anyone that has or had symptoms of COVID-19 that required you to quarantine? Y/N
  4. In the past 14 days, have you or someone you have been in contact with traveled to an area that required quarantine upon return? Y/N
  5. In the past 14 days, have you experienced any of these symptoms that are not attributed to another health condition: cough, loss of smell or taste, runny nose, shortness of breath, or a sore throat? Y/N
